For a number of years we have had a flourishing Training Band which has successfully brought on many younger players who have eventually joined the Full Band. More recently the Training Band has included more mature players who need to develop their skills in our weekly rehearsals.

Until Christmas 2005, when he left the Band, Steve Dixon worked with the Training Band and is pictured here conducting the band at another one of the band’s BBQs at Churton Village Hall. |
 |
Our President, Frank Kehlenbeck is also pictured here with the Young Band Member of the Year and the other award winners from the Training Band. |

From January 2006 Shane Coupland took over the running of the Training band which continues to go from strength to strength. |

Each year the younger members of the band organise their own social event and the most recent was to the Laser Quest in Chester, the members are pictured here before going into battle. |
Anyone young or old who would like to come along a find out more abut the Training Band can join us at one of our rehearsals which take place at the Churton Village Hall on Wednesdays from 7pm until 8-15pm. |
Farndon & District Brass Band Welfare Sub Committee
The Welfare Sub Committee was formed in 2005 to draw up a Child Protection Polcy document to make all members and visitors to the band aware of the correct procedures when working with young people or vulnerable adults.
 |
The finished Child Protection Policy was presented to the full committee in January 2007 and circulated copies of the procedures to all members and supporters of the band.
It very clearly highlights the importance placed by Farndon & District Brass Band on the protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults. It also safeguards and protects all personnel from the risk of false allegations of abuse or poor practice. |
The introduction of our Child Protection policy should be seen as a clear signal by the Farndon & District Brass Band that it is determined to ensure all necessary steps are taken to protect from harm, those children and young people associated with our Band, in line with current legislation.
